Greens Books for 2010 Cox Classic Golf Tournament

The Mapping Network and Bucketboy Graphics have teamed up to produce state-of-the-art Greens Books for the 2010 Cox Classic Nationwide Tour Event.  These books will give players and caddies exact information on the slope and break of every putt.  Contour lines represent change in elevation.  Contour lines which are close together indicate a steep slope and areas where contour lines are spread out are flatter.  In addition to the greens books, professional yardage books of Champions Run were produced for golfers competing in the Cox Classic.

GPS Mapping was used produce the most accurate contour maps of each green for the 2010 Cox Classic.

The Mapping Network provides the highest quality and is the most affordable golf course and bathymetric mapping system on the market today.  If you are serious about maintaining  a high-quality golf course, lake or pond, be sure you have the ability to make the best decisions,  get your lake mapped by the professionals at The Mapping Network.   Give us a call or send an e-mail to find out more details.

BucketBoy Graphics was started in 1998 by Troy Martin. As a Professional Golfer, he noticed too many quality golf courses were lacking a good yardage book. Initially, we designed black and white TOUR books that have been used on many of the major professional tours worldwide. We have since added the top graphic artists in the business and now offer the best 3-D color yardage books as well. In addition to our art staff, we employ several Tour Caddies and PGA Professionals. When not competing or designing yardage books, Troy caddies on the PGA Champions Tour for D.A. Weibring.

Our TOUR yardage books will be used on all three major men’s tours in the United States in 2010 and we have been selected by the Adams Pro Tour Series to be the exclusive yardage book provider for all 16 of their events. We have a strong reputation for working with the club to provide the EXACT yardage book they need. We use only the finest quality papers and use award winning printers in the U.S.A.

For the premier yardage book, choose BucketBoy Graphics.

GPS Lake Mapping in Action: Locating Trophy Bass in Georgia

Bathymetric Lake Mapping was performed by Greg Grimes with Aquatic Environmental Services for a homeowners association in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.  To read more about the mapping project click here.   During the mapping process in the field, Mr. Grimes was able to notice the main creek channel.  They made sure to collect plenty of data in this area and sure enough the maps showed a defined meandering creek channel.

Mr. Grimes discusses the lake mapping and fish shocking survey process: “When mapping we used our shock boat so knowing this service was part of our management services we performed this service upon completion of mapping.   We shocked up many good bass. The real hot spot was the meandering creek.  Luckily while mapping we tossed out a few marker buoys.  Many large bass floated up right near the markers of the creek channel.  One really cool thing that I would also like to share is that we tagged a bass at the boat ramp and 400 yards away it was shocked an hour later in the creek channel.  It is amazing in a 32 acre lake to get a bass we just shocked but even more amazing is how far the bass traveled in short time.”

So after the fish survey and mapping for the sedimentation it became clear they also were going to use this map for fishing.  During the data processing phase, The Mapping Network provided Aquatic Environmental Services a few GPS coordinates of the hotspots and now the residents can go back and find these locations.  Resident Phyllis Lea did just that; she took her granddaughter to the creek channel using the maps and knowledge it provided and had a morning to remember.

While bathymetric mapping might be primarily for monitoring sediment, never underestimate the power it can have for finding fish as well!

Bathymetry Mapping in St. Louis, Missouri

Using a GPS Lake Map to Create Management Plan

Jim Darlington, President of Leisure Ponds, mapped a series of small ponds in the St. Louis area for a commercial property management company.

Each lake was approximately 2 acres and had shown warning signs of significant sedimentation.  GPS Lake mapping was conducted on site to reveal the true lake depths of the ponds.  In addition to the bathymetric survey, sedimentation depths were collected and a model of sedimentation levels was created to estimate the volume of sludge in the lake. This information provided the baseline depth profile needed for long-term sedimentation monitoring and dredging plans.  The mapping techniques utilized in this project allows Leisure Ponds to accurately isolate areas of high sedimentation for removal and help lake managers budget accordingly.

Lake Bathymetry in Atlanta, Georgia

Powerful, Proven Results:

Bathymetric Lake Mapping was performed by Greg Grimes with Aquatic Environmental Services for a homeowners association in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.  Originally mapped by Aquatic Environmental Services in 2007, the HOA wanted to create an updated base map of lake depths and locate areas of sediment accumulation due to heavy construction upstream.  Comparing lake depth data from 2007 and 2010 allows the HOA to estimate how much sedimentation is occurring and aids in budgeting for future dredging costs.  In the end, the HOA saves thousands of dollars and limits the impact to the ecosystem by isolating sediment problem areas to dredge instead of disturbing a large swath of the lake which is unnecessary.  The dredging companies also benefit by knowing exactly what type of sedimentation deposits they are dealing with and the composition of such deposits with core sampling analysis.

The mapping techniques utilized in this project and subsequent lake mapping results allowed Aquatic Environmental Services to devise an accurate resource management plan for the association.

The finished project included a Bathymetric Lake Map with 3D Color-shaded depths and contour map with locations of high risk sediment areas.  Below is a map displaying the 2010 contour lines along with random points comparing depths over a 3 year period (2007 to 2010).  The map depicts exactly where the sediment is settling and how deep.

Comparison of lake depths from 2007 to 2010. Understanding sedimentation is critical to successful lake management.

GPS Lake Map Isolates Potential Invasive Vegetation Growth Areas

GPS Lake Mapping Saves Time and Money by Accurately Locating Problem Areas

It is critical to know the exact acreage and depth range of your lake to make sound management decisions in the battle against invasive aquatic vegetation.  Understanding exactly where to apply treatment not only saves time and money but more importantly provides a better opportunity to control aggressive, non-native  aquatic plant life.  Precision GPS lake mapping conducted by The Mapping Network utilizes highly accurate procedures and equipment for data collection.  Utilizing sub-foot accurate GPS units and hydro-acoustic depth-sounding equipment, our team logs data points for extremely accurate location mapping.  Hydro-acoustic depth sounding equipment measures depth with unparalleled accuracy.  Our clients are able to accurately isolate zones where invasive vegetation is likely to occur or is currently growing.  Proper management decisions provided by local lake management professionals will assist in controlling or elevation unwanted aquatic vegetation.

A GPS Bathymetric Lake Map and Depth Isolation Survey by The Mapping Network will help optimize your efforts to control invasive aquatic vegetation in your lake or pond.  Please contact us for more information on how this service can assist you in managing your aquatic resource.
