Lake Mapping in South Carolina

Solitude Lake Management created a bathymetry and a sediment volume study for a property owners association in South Carolina. The pond was mapped to understand current water depths and to calculate the amount of accumulated sediment.  This information with assist the POA with future dredge planning.

Mapping Water Capicity

The Mapping Network utilized sonar for collecting water depths and drone technology to collect elevation data surrounding the pond to create an accurate 3D model.  This model was used to calculate a water capacity chart and help meet a federal mandate.

Coal Plant Ponds Bathymetry

The Mapping Network team surveyed two ash ponds for a coal power plant.   The purpose was to quantity and locate ash accumulation in the pond because it needed to be removed per EPA regulations.   By comparing the original bottoms of the ponds with the current bottom depths, a computer model calculated the location and amount of material.  The power company used the information to assist with bids for dredging contractors to remove all the material.

The hydrographic survey included mapping the current bottom elevation of the ponds and also charting the hard bottom of the ponds.  Comparing the two models produces a map showing the location and amount of material has accumulated.
