Dredge Volume Verification

Have a dredging project coming up for your lake or pond?   How do you know if the dredge contractor removed the correct amount of sediment?  The Mapping Network specializes in pre-dredge and post-dredge surveys to verify dredge projects are done according to plan.  We use top-of-the-line GPS and sonar technology to accurately survey the lake bottom.

The map on the left shows the current water depths in the pond. The map on the right shows what the pond will look like once the soft sediment is removed

Power Plant Intake Dredge Project Hydrographic Survey

The Mapping Network has extensive experience performing hydrographic surveys on intake channels for power plants and drinking water intakes. On the example below The Mapping Network conducted a pre and post dredge survey along with calculating the amount of material removed.  The map below is the post-dredge survey after all dredging operations were performed.

Golf Course Irrigation Pond Water Volume

The Mapping Network recently completed a lake mapping project for historic Winged Foot Country Club in Mamaroneck, New York.  The client requested the creation of a detailed lake map for understanding true depths and water volume for seasonal irrigation planning.   Additionally, The Mapping Network team collected sediment samples throughout the pond so the club can closely monitor sedimentation rates in the future.

When Accuracy Matters, Choose The Mapping Network

The Mapping Network utilized a combination of Hypack, RTK GPS, and Odom CV100 Sonar to create a highly accurate bathymetric map for a pair of lakes in Ohio.  With precision lake mapping through The Mapping Network, many important features of the lake can be seen.   On the map below, showing 3D shaded water depth, many definitive features can be seen including the original river channels in each lake and even an old road crossing the southern lake!

Dredge Excavation Planning in Lake Cove

The Mapping Network utilized several different technologies to create a 3D model of the land and water topography.  The Mapping Network used a combination of Hypack, RTK GPS, and Odom CV100 Sonar to create the bathymetry map.  For land topography The Mapping Network used RTK and UAV technology.  This model was used to calculate the amount of sediment that needed to be removed so lake managers could plan the upcoming lake dredging project.

Hydrogaphic Survey for Dredge Quantity Verification

The Mapping Network completed a hydrographic survey to show the status of a dredging project for a drinking water reservoir.   A combination of Hypack, RTK GPS, and Odom CV100 Sonar was used to collect and process he bathymetry data.  A comparison with the pre-dredge survey was calculated to verify the amount and location of material removed.    This verifies the dredging has reached the planned depths and keeps all parties on the same page.

Drone/UAV and Sonar to 3D Water Capacity Study

The Mapping Network utilized several different technologies to create a 3D model of the land and water topography.  They used a combination of Hypack, RTK GPS, and Odom CV100 Sonar to create the bathymetry.  For land topography The Mapping Network used RTK and UAV technology.  This model was used to calculate a water capacity chart and help meet a federal mandate.

Land and Water Topography of Pipeline in Missouri

The Mapping Network and an engineering firm team up to perform a topographic survey on the land and a hydrographic survey on a portion of the lake where a new gas pipeline would be crossing.  The pipeline is buried  below the lake bottom and knowing the existing bottom of the lake is crucial to engineers placing the pipeline correctly.

Berm Design for Dredge Project

The Mapping Network team created a proposed berm construction plan for a client in Oklahoma. The primary objective of this project was to determine the size and location of the basin to put the dredged material.  The client was looking for the cut and fill slopes, basin depth, capacity interval volumes, and amount of material cut and filled.   The customer will use the information to assist with bids for dredging contractors to remove all the material.
