The Mapping Network previously conducted a hydrographic survey to analyze the amount of sediment in a lake. After determining cost of sediment removal, the lake owner decided to dredge specific locations of sediment. The Mapping Network was able to perform volume calculations on the precise boundaries without any additional surveying.
Lake Management – Dredging Sediment With an Excavation Plan
The Mapping Network performed a dredging excavation analysis for a lake association on multiple coves with sediment issues. The Mapping Network first conducted a pre-dredge survey along with sediment probes of the coves. With this data, they were able to create models estimating the volume of material needed to excavate to a specific water depth.
Dredge Volume Verification
Have a dredging project coming up for your lake or pond? How do you know if the dredge contractor removed the correct amount of sediment? The Mapping Network specializes in pre-dredge and post-dredge surveys to verify dredge projects are done according to plan. We use top-of-the-line GPS and sonar technology to accurately survey the lake bottom.

The map on the left shows the existing water depths in the pond before dredging. The map on the right shows what the pond looked like once the soft sediment was removed

Golf Course Irrigation Pond Water Volume
The Mapping Network recently completed a lake mapping project for historic Winged Foot Country Club in Mamaroneck, New York. The client requested the creation of a detailed lake map for understanding true depths and water volume for seasonal irrigation planning. Additionally, The Mapping Network team collected sediment samples throughout the pond so the club can closely monitor sedimentation rates in the future.

When Accuracy Matters, Choose The Mapping Network
The Mapping Network utilized a combination of Hypack, RTK GPS, and Odom CV100 Sonar to create a highly accurate bathymetric map for a pair of lakes in Ohio. With precision lake mapping through The Mapping Network, many important features of the lake can be seen. On the map below, showing 3D shaded water depth, many definitive features can be seen including the original river channels in each lake and even an old road crossing the southern lake!

Dredge Excavation Planning in Lake Cove
The Mapping Network utilized several different technologies to create a 3D model of the land and water topography. The Mapping Network used a combination of Hypack, RTK GPS, and Odom CV100 Sonar to create the bathymetry map. For land topography The Mapping Network used RTK and UAV technology. This model was used to calculate the amount of sediment that needed to be removed so lake managers could plan the upcoming lake dredging project.

Hydrogaphic Survey for Dredge Quantity Verification
The Mapping Network completed a hydrographic survey to show the status of a dredging project for a drinking water reservoir. A combination of Hypack, RTK GPS, and Odom CV100 Sonar was used to collect and process he bathymetry data. A comparison with the pre-dredge survey was calculated to verify the amount and location of material removed. This verifies the dredging has reached the planned depths and keeps all parties on the same page.
